Havening Techniques

HAVENING TECHNIQUES ®

I am a Certified Havening Techniques Therapist.

Developed by Dr Ronald Ruden, PhD and Dr Steven Ruden, Havening Techniques® is a psycho-sensory technique that utilises the natural electro-chemicals of the brain to help reduce the negative imprints of traumatic memories and is used to treat other conditions such as phobias, panic attacks, stress, depression, somatic pain, grief, PTSD, and more. Havening Techniques belong to a larger group of methods called psychosensory therapies, which use sensory input to alter thought, mood, and behavior.

Havening is a safe, unique and gentle method for processing traumatic or distressing memories, often involving no discussion of the traumatic contents yet with great and prompt effects.

EMDRAA

EMDR ®

I am a Certified EMDR practitioner.

EMDR®, or Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing, (developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro) is a treatment method known to disrupt encoded traumatic memories by using sensory input while memories or other stressors are explored, for instance, through tapping, bilateral eye movements, or tones.

There are typically 8 phases to EMDR treatment, including establishing safety, processing memories, and future-oriented templates.

EMDR is widely used and recognised by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, U.S Police Force, Australian Psychological Society (APS), American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organisation, Department of Health and Social Care, Drug and Alcohol Services and Rehabilitation Centres in Melbourne, as well as individual therapists. This treatment is non-invasive and can help you to heal from trauma.

Somatic Experiencing (SE)

I am a Certified SE practitioner

Developed by trauma therapist Peter A. Levine, Somatic experiencing is a form of therapy aimed at relieving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental and physical trauma-related health problems by focusing on your perceived body sensations.

Somatic means ‘of the body’. This practice prioritises the mind-body connection in treatment to help address both physical and psychological symptoms of trauma, grief and depression.

The goal of SE is to help you notice the sensations in your body that stem from past trauma and to use them to work through difficult past experiences.

Attachment Based Psychotherapy

Attachment theory was first developed by John Bowby, who focused on the impact of early attachment to at least one primary caregiver later in life.
When there is an attachment injury with the primary caregiver and other ostensibly important care figures during the developmental years, insecure attachment can occur within, which impacts how we feel or relate to ourselves and others.
Attachment based psychotherapy helps the individual to recover from this trauma.
